On s\u2019attend au fracas \u2013 l\u2019image sonore qui m\u2019en demeurait apr\u00e8s l\u2019avoir entendue au concert \u00e9tait d\u2019ailleurs celle d\u2019une temp\u00eate cr\u00e9pitante. Percussions : les mots portent en eux une charge parfois mensong\u00e8re, d\u00e9connect\u00e9e de la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 physique de la chose, et c\u2019est bien pourquoi la musique s\u2019en m\u00e9fie comme la peinture redoute le vernis au goudron. Car Efji \u2013 l\u2019acronyme des initiales de son interpr\u00e8te d\u00e9dicataire \u2013 est une \u0153uvre d\u2019\u00e9nergie striant le silence, une symphonie suave, une musique des sph\u00e8res contemporaine o\u00f9 des particules de vitesse et de masses diff\u00e9rentes tournoient, s\u2019acc\u00e9l\u00e8rent, collisionnent, dans l\u2019infini d\u2019une r\u00e9verb\u00e9ration. Une folie vertigineuse aussi r\u00e9unissant un compositeur et un interpr\u00e8te complices de longue date, l\u2019un entra\u00eenant l\u2019autre, aller-retour, vers une mission sonore presque impossible \u00e0 r\u00e9aliser sur sc\u00e8ne \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle souhait\u00e9e et qui trouve dans cet enregistrement son accomplissement. Une folie douce qui nous fait r\u00e9examiner tout ce que l\u2019on croyait savoir sur les percussions.<br \/>Cela commence avec la passion de Florent Jodelet pour les \u00ab idiophones \u00bb, ces instruments extra-europ\u00e9ens qu\u2019il rapporte de ses voyages et dont il d\u00e9veloppe avec un souci de luthier l\u2019adaptation aux contraintes de la musique occidentale. \u00ab Le mat\u00e9riau sonore g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9 par les idiophones est tellement singulier, \u00e9vocateur, porteur d\u2019id\u00e9es musicales, qu\u2019ayant devant moi une paire de maracas l\u2019envie me prend de les multiplier, de jouer avec les hauteurs et les grains jusqu\u2019\u00e0 \u201cconstruire\u201d des mini-claviers\u2026 \u00bb Alors, enrichissant les univers du m\u00e9tal et des peaux usuels dans les percussions classiques, Efji re\u00e7oit maracas et caxixis, binzasara et cencerros, gamelans et gongs, le carillon des angklungs et les peaux accord\u00e9es tendues sur les tubes des boo-bams. Nul d\u00e9sir de r\u00e9f\u00e9rence ni d\u2019acculturation, mais le d\u00e9fi instrumental qui devient d\u00e9fi po\u00e9tique de faire dialoguer entre eux des mondes sonores qui d\u2019ordinaire ne se rencontrent pas. Ajoutez \u00e0 cela l\u2019enjeu d\u2019amplification acoustique, par l\u2019exploration des micro-intervalles sur un second vibraphone en quarts de ton, par le d\u00e9ploiement qu\u2019on croirait sans limites des r\u00e9sonances\u2009; la m\u00e9tamorphose des couleurs dans le creuset de l\u2019\u00e9criture par injection permanente d\u2019\u00e9nergie, comme la gouge du graveur sur la plaque est toujours tenue, qu\u2019elle griffe \u00e0 vives entailles ou creuse la chair de la courbe \u2013 et vous avez Efji, si diff\u00e9rente et pourtant embl\u00e9matique de la musique de Laurent Cuniot : la construction du discours, la tension des \u00e9nergies, la sollicitation de l\u2019\u00e9coute.<br \/>Et si Florent Jodelet nous invitait, au fil des sections de l\u2019\u0153uvre, l\u00e0 o\u00f9 nous n\u2019allons jamais : au c\u0153ur de son ressenti d\u2019interpr\u00e8te\u2009?<br \/>\u00ab M\u00eame si la continuit\u00e9 est \u00e9vidente, je vis cette pi\u00e8ce comme une succession de mouvements aux identit\u00e9s distinctes, dans lesquels je plonge et qui me mettent en jeu de fa\u00e7ons diverses. Mon guide : animer et faire sonner le \u201cpetit\u201d instrumentarium autour de moi\u2009! Dans Arsis puis \u00c9nergie du silence et du bruit, je me fais animal sous une loupe sonore, dans un monde tr\u00e8s fin, une po\u00e9sie microscopique. Avec l\u2019Asie imaginaire du Petit rituel en mouvement, il y a le grand plaisir instrumental de faire interagir des instruments aussi diff\u00e9rents dans une relation assez jubilatoire, car pour moi ce rituel est joyeux\u2009! \u00c9nergies instables c\u2019est de l\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 virtuelle avec le plus de volts possibles. C\u2019est bref, tr\u00e8s intense, cela doit aller tr\u00e8s vite, il y a vraiment l\u2019id\u00e9e d\u2019un orage \u00e9lectrique. \u00c9nonc\u00e9, aux vibraphones, m\u2019offre le vertige du pianiste devant le clavier, le jeu de la r\u00e9sonance, les couleurs harmoniques. Je suis dans le son, dans l\u2019\u00e9coute, dans l\u2019attente de la vibration. Je dois continuer \u00e0 mener le discours interne et, dans la minuscule perception du temps, me demander si c\u2019est le moment exact, s\u2019il ne faut pas encore attendre un petit peu que l\u2019accord se prolonge\u2026 Accomplissement des tensions est une section fulgurante\u2009! Tous les instruments sont convoqu\u00e9s, tout est tr\u00e8s mobile, des formules, des variations reviennent, une grande arche d\u2019\u00e9nergie avec une suspension et un climax.
